The short version: your recordings, targets, and history are yours, stored under your account, used to run the product and improve detection — never sold, never used for ads.

What we collect

Account. On first launch the iOS app creates an anonymous Firebase account (a random identifier). If you link Apple or email in Settings, that identifier is associated with your Apple ID or email address so your history follows you across devices.

On the web, scoring a target without an account creates an anonymous identifier stored in your browser. It is not connected to you unless you choose to link Apple or email.

Shot-timer sessions. Audio recorded during a timing session, detected shot times, detector confidence values, your review corrections, and device/app metadata (device model, iOS version, app version) needed to interpret the recording.

Target scores. Photos of paper targets you choose to score, the detected and corrected hole positions, and the resulting scores.

Feedback. Whatever you write in a feedback form, and an optional contact email if you leave one.

We collect nothing in the background — recording happens only during a session you start.

Where it lives

Everything is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Cloud Storage) under your account identifier, on Google Cloud infrastructure in the United States. Detection itself runs on-device; recordings sync to your account so you can review sessions on the web dashboard.

How we use it

To provide the product: session history, cross-device sync, the analytics dashboard, and target scoring. And to make detection better: session recordings together with your review corrections may be used to train improved detection models, and target photos you upload for scoring — together with any corrections you make to the detected hits — may be used to train improved target-scoring models. Model training happens from labeled data in aggregate; the models ship back to everyone’s devices. This training use is part of why scoring is free.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with third parties beyond the Google Cloud services that host it. There is no advertising and no tracking beyond what is described here.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account and all associated data — sessions, recordings, target photos, and scores — from the iOS app under Settings. You can also ask us to do it by writing to hello@soundsidedesign.com from the account’s linked email. Deletion is permanent.

If you scored targets on the web without an account, email hello@soundsidedesign.com with the link to your saved score and we will delete it.

Beta status

WhirledPiece is beta software, free to use, and the core experience will stay free. We may later offer optional paid tiers for advanced features or storage. If our data practices change, this page changes first and the effective date below moves.
